Book Summary

Maelyn Jones is unhappy with her job. She’s living with her parents and still pining for her childhood crush, Andrew. One night, after having too much egg nog, she ends up making out with her long-time friend, Theo. The fact that Theo is Andrew’s brother makes her more devastated by this oops moment. To make matters worse, her favourite place in the world-the cabin is getting sold. As she drives away from the cabin for the last time, she asks the universe to show her what will make her happy. Little did she know that (simple but not so simple) wish would send her into a time loop, reliving her week with her family and friends in the cabin over and over.

Review

Christina Lauren is one of my go-to authors. Their books are always a must-read for me! However, time travel isn't typically my preferred genre, so I found myself rereading some pages to fully grasp the concept. The first quarter of the book felt a bit slow, and I wasn't entirely hooked. However, as the story progressed, I began to connect with the main character, Mae, and enjoyed witnessing her growth and increasing confidence. The annual family and friends tradition in the cabin created a strong sense of community, which we all crave now more than ever. The book's light-heartedness and low angst make for a perfect seasonal escape. Overall, while it may take a bit of time to get into the story, "In a Holidaze" is a delightful read and a great choice for those seeking an enjoyable, heartwarming story.
